The amount of money that is being spent on business travel in the United States is staggering. According to a new report being issued at the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention 2017 called “The U.S. Business Travel Industry: Business Travel’s Impact on Jobs and the U.S. Economy in 2016,” the nation’s businesses spent a total of $424 billion to send travelers out on the road for 514.4 million domestic business trips in 2016.

The study, which was conducted by the GBTA Foundation in partnership with American Express Global Business Travel, also highlights other positive impacts that business travel has on the nation’s economy, including its effect on the U.S GDP, the job market, wages and tax revenue.
